Minotaur: the next character going into VR Game Cry of Athena, by Simulated Minds. Low poly base mesh with texture maps baked from high poly sculpt.
The first step in this process was the initial high poly sculpt. I started that with a simple sphere. No human base mesh or template was used. No 2D ortho front or side view references were used; I did put together a mood sheet of bull and minotaur images that I glanced at for inspiration while sculpting this, but no ortho views or any other direct references were used. After the sculpt was mostly complete, then I retopologized into a low poly base mesh.
